Peter Kettle
Peter Kettle is an expressive landscape artist and documentarian who creates oil and mixed media paintings inspired by his deep connection to the landscapes he explores. Each year, he embarks on planned journeys across his native Wales and remote regions of the world, integrating journalistic narratives and social geography into his work.Peter Kettle’s expeditions have taken him from the desert plains of Patagonia to the Andean Foothills, retracing the steps of Welsh settlers. Peter has also undertaken an environmental expedition to Everest Base Camp, collecting discarded materials along the trek to incorporate into his mixed media compositions.
Peter Kettle’s artistic process is immersive and dynamic, capturing the essence of the environments he encounters. Using a combination of oils, plaster, collage, inks, and shellac, his work evokes the texture of weathered surfaces—granular yet luminous, infused with atmospheric drama. Peter’s paintings undergo multiple stages of layering and deconstruction, resulting in richly textured, expressive compositions.
Originally from Wales, Peter Kettle now resides in Bristol but frequently returns to his homeland for inspiration. Peter has been recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA). Peter’s work has been featured on BBC News and in publications such as The Guardian and Money Week, where he was highlighted as "One to Watch." Peter Kettle’s paintings are held in private collections around the world.
