Matthew Thompson
Matthew Thompson is a young artist originally from the Huddersfield area of Yorkshire. Matthew Thompson has been painting since 2007 and completed his final year at the Manchester School of Art in 2013.
Even now, this young artist has established a distinctive style of painting using oil paints as well as mixed media of paints, charcoal and pastels creating a passionate and expressive take on everyday urban life.
“I am a visual artist based in Manchester. I am mainly interested in the urban environment, in particular the North of England, though I don't limit myself solely to this subject. I paint my experience honestly and unpretentiously, sometimes taking a romantic view of city life and at others portraying the melancholy and isolation of the city, or documenting the everchanging skyline.”
