Matthew Eastmond
Matthew Eastmond is a British painter best known for his naturalistic depictions of landscapes and urban scenes. Matthew Eastmond’s watercolours capture the essential aspects of each scene with bold sketching - often using an inked matchstick - and painting that reflects the beauty of light and colour. The artist cites John Hoar, Rowland Hilder and Edward Wesson as major influences on his work. Born in 1974 in London and brought up in Buckinghamshire, Eastmond studied Mathematics at Oxford University and worked in software engineering and teaching for many years. In 2018, he moved to Rutland and became a full-time artist. Matthew Eastmond has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour’s Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London and lives near Uppingham in the United Kingdom.
