Bruce Yardley

Bruce Yardley, born in 1962, has been a dedicated professional oil painter for nearly three decades. Bruce has held over forty solo exhibitions, primarily in the UK, with additional shows in the US, Canada, and New Zealand.

Rooted in the English tradition of tonal Impressionism, Bruce Yardley’s work focuses on capturing the ever-changing effects of light, much like the French Impressionists. Over time, he has developed a fluid, expressive style that emphasises light without relying on intricate detail. The influence of artists such as Monet, Sickert, and Whistler is evi-dent in his work, which he explores in his 2021 book Painting like the Impressionists (Crowood Press).

Bruce Yadley’s subjects are varied, encompassing both indoor and outdoor scenes, reflecting the breadth of interest shared by the original Impressionists.
